OPQ Provisions Fibre To The Home

OPQ are pleased to announce that in conjunction with Botswana Fibre Networks we are powering up Internet to our residential customers over fibre.

Why switch to Fibre?

Fibre has many benefits over cable other than speed. Since fibre optic cables send data much faster (approaching the speed of light), they’re better suited for long distance communication, which is why they power much of the internet.

Since the fibre conduit is made of glass or plastic, they’re less susceptible to interference from power lines, electrical equipment, lightning and not at all affected by radio frequency interference.

Fibre to the home is the ultimate answer to bandwidth hungry applications like high definition television and high speed broadband. This is accomplished by providing fibre access to individual customers.

Fibre is easily scalable up to 1Gbps without affecting the speed of data transfer, unlike wireless solutions.

Isn’t Fibre more expensive?

Whilst nothing can match the bandwidth and speed fibre optics offers in communications and data movement, the technology does come at a slightly higher cost than say delivery over wireless links. Fibre to the home package details are here.
